PAUL

In chapter (3) of the Epistle of the Apostle Paul to his son Titus: verses 2 to 7 Paul warns us, cautions us, against how we are to be perceived by others.

Paul speaking to Titus instructs, "speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of The Holy Spirit; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God, might be careful to maintain good works, these things are good and profitable unto men."

Through these scriptures we learn and can understand that the Apostle Paul is re-inforcing a major teaching with his son Titus to be taught and passed on, specifically that we all fall short of God's expectations of us, as we all have been sinful by being lawfully foolish, and disobedient, and deceitful, we all have divers lustful, pleasurable tendencies, we all live in envy, and hatefulness, but we must try to avoid these as best we can.

Paul goes on to teach us that it is not through performance of good deeds or charitable deeds, that we are saved from our sinfulness, that our spiritual renewal can only come through the righteous justification and sactification of our total belief and acceptance that we are saved and cleansed through the regenerating blood of Christ Jesus poured out for our salvation, and only through this are we justified by His Grace and become joint heirs with Him to eternal life.

It is only the grace of God and His love for us that God sent Jesus Christ into the world, so that through His death, through His perfect sacrifice unto God and through our acceptance of this gift from Jesus, that we can be saved from sin and death, and be restored to our rightful heavenly place in God,s house as his child, his son or daughter.

This serves to re-enforce Jesus teachings to us in John 14:6 where Jesus tells us,"I am the way,the truth and the life, no man comes unto the Father but thru me."

Our first step towards redemption is our acknowledgement of Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, the next is to ask forgiveness of our sinful way and the last is to fully believe that Jesus will instantly grant this for us and our souls, our spirits will be immediately cleansed of all our sinfulness, past present, and future, and we will be restored to God Our Father.

Yes Dave, it is only by the Grace of God sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins that we have any hope of Salvation. As you pointed out in a comment that you left on another hub. Although we seek repentance through Christ we cannot lose sight that each day we must strive to be obedient to Him. Live a life of good reflection to others so we can lead by example. Good hub Thanks for sharing.

Loves to Read, God's Grace and forgiveness, are never ending, just as His love for us. Sinning even if we know not that we sin is a fact of life we all must live with and accept as fact, but as long as we humbly ask Our Lord for forgiveness, and do our best to change, God's Grace and forgiveness will be granted.

Coffeesnob, The Holy Spirit has so much to teach us from both Holy Father God, and Jesus. It's a shame that others have not yet understood Their teachings though as you and I do.

God be with you,

Brother Dave.

eovery, Almighty God is working with us every step of the way throughout our lives, and will never ask of us anything that we cannot do, with His help and guidance. Jesus is our saviour and our acceptance of that is our salvation for all time.

Amen. Some great advice. We are all definitely saved by grace alone but our faith is justified in our good works. The Spirit is great... I am glad I joined this place, its a lighthouse in a dark ocean of people on the web that could sure use the shimmering here. Peace unto you.

JesusgavemeLIFE, You make a good point that "Our faith is justified in our good works." and how about, Our good works justifies our belief by faith. Although our good works earns us nothing as far as gaining or protecting our newly justified righteousness before Almighty God, but builds up our treasure in heaven and God's Holy Graces.

we are often drawn away from obedience by? the abuse of grace and then claim 1john 1:9. We abuse grace when, after sinning, we dwell on the compassion? and mercy of god to the exclusion of His holiness and hatred of sin. 'God loves the sinner but hates the sin', remember that saying? "Ecc 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil". We have a responsibility to eschew evil, take up our cross and crucify our flesh by turning, confessing and admitting our temptations to jesus and seeking his strength through prayer at the time of temptations not after sinning. Confidence comes, beloved, not through battles lost, but battles won. God Bless

Yes it is only by grace through faith in Christ are we saved. As it is written in Isaiah 64:6 "All our righteous acts are filthy rags before him/" Only Christ sacrifice on calvary is an acceptable sacrifice to the Father. Great hub. Remain blessed always.

Romans 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

Romans 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Romans 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

What do you do with terms like called, forknow, predesdinate?

Aye! Brother Dave, calling you John was not a mistake, in the times of the Bible, you know as well as anyone names were given those worthy, and I just happened to be studying from the book of John when the note came in that you were at my door. I am however touched in the head, but it is in a good way, I think?

Peace, Dusty

6There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

Dusty,I'm flattered if you compare me to the apostle John. Biblically for me his writings have the most meaning, for of all the apostles writing in the gospels, he is the one with the most clarity, until you get to his writings in Revelation. He has my head running in circles with that particular book, even though I know it is prophetic.

Have a good weekend Dusty and we'll catch you next week.

Paul the apostle had much to say and teach after his conviction of the Holy Spirit. Jesus also chose St.Peter as the Rock that He would build His church from. Powerful message. It has withstood the test of time and nothing can be taken from it. The Holy Spirit moves in when those whom are yearning for God's love step up in faith and ask for the relationship with Jesus Christ, Amen! Awesome hub! Thanks

Artin2010, I agree with you about both Paul and Peter. For Paul to go from being a persecutor of Christians, to a defender of the faith as he did, in such a short period of time, and convert so many to Christianity through the help of The Holy Spirit, is a testimony to both his personal conversion and his new found beliefs.

I agree with you there!

Thinking that by works we are saved puffs us up with pride.

Whether we're Baptist or Catholic......we must accept Jesus with giving nothing in return.

Salvation is a gift. What a wonderful God--I hope more people are able to see how EASY it is to go to Heaven thru you works!

In Christ's Love, Rose

schoolgirlforreal, Rose dear sister,God never wanted it to be difficult for His children to know Him or to be with Him. Like all loving fathers, God desires for us as his children to be able to approach Him as easily as possible, without fear of rejection, because of sin so he had Jesus pay the price for our sin, and if we accept his redemptive grace, we are instantly forgiven and recognised by the father.

Amen. We are so blessed to have a Living God who is full of Grace and Mercy.

Romans 5:20,21 - .....where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

AMEN! vogue4us. Without God's Holy Grace where would any of us be. It was by the Grace of God our Father, that Jesus our redeemer was asked to receive our sins as our Godly substitute on the cross.
